DAET, Camarines Norte, (PIA) July 17 -- The Public Service Employment Office (PESO) of the provincial government of Camarines Norte, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), have so far sponsored 12 jobs fairs providing opportunities for employment of locals.
DOLE Camarines Norte chief Ruben L. Romanillos said that of the 12 jobs fair, eight were held in 2012 and four during the first five months of this year.
A total of 15,234 jobs vacancies were from the 78 companies and recruitment agencies for local and overseas deployment in 2012 that resulted to the on the spot hiring of 112 unemployed and recorded 1,025 for final interview.
From January to May this year some 10,525 jobs vacancies were from the 50 companies and recruitment agencies here and abroad wherein 113 unemployed were hired on the spot while 532 were listed for final interview.
He said that six of the jobs fair were sponsored by the local government units of Daet, three were led by LGU-Jose Panganiban, two by LGU- Labo and one by the provincial government of Camarines Norte.
Jobs fair is an employment facilitation strategy of the government aimed to fast-track the meeting of jobseekers and employers/overseas recruitment agencies in one venue at a specific date to reduce cost, time and effort particularly on the part of the applicants.
The fair is open to all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers, fresh college graduates, graduates of training institutions, displaced workers and employees seeking advancement.
Several agencies are invited like Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Overseas Workers Welfare Admnistration (OWWA), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to provide self-employed and training assistance and among others to job seekers. (MAL/RBM/PIA5-Camarines Norte)
