By Edna A. Bagadiong

VIRAC, Catanduanes, July 17 (PIA) -- Catanduanes provincial division of the Department of Education (DepEd) will host the Regional Management Committee Meeting on August 4-5.

The meeting will tackle the senior high school implementation under the K to 12 Basic Education Program.

Mr. Jose L. Doncillo, assistant schools division superintendent said the two-day activity will be participated in by DepEd Undersecretary for Partnerships and External Linkages, Mario A. Deriquito.

Participants to this meeting are the regional DepEd directorate, schools division superintendents and assistants, chiefs of units, egional and division supervisors, private schools administrators and other stakeholders.

The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of Senior High School [SHS]) to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education, middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.

Under the K to 12 program, Senior High School is two years of specialized upper secondary education where students may choose a specialization based on aptitude, interests, and school capacity.

The choice of career track will define the content of the subjects a student will take in Grades 11 and 12. SHS subjects fall under either the Core Curriculum or specific Tracks. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
