VIRAC, Catanduanes, July 1 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) formally announced the winners for the Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya 2013 on June 26 at the Sea Breeze Restaurant here.
The competition aims at recognizing families who have religiously followed the conditions of the program and demonstrated the values inculcated in the Family Development Sessions (FDS).
The winners are: 1st Place-Jerry and Erlinda Ogalesco of Viga town; 2nd place-Endio and Mila Abines of Panganiban town; 3rd Place - Gerry and Imelda Basallote of San Andres town; and Loudemia Pagola of Gigmoto.
They were judged based on the following criteria: Compliance with 4Ps’ conditionalities (25 percent); Promotion and practice of healthy living (20 percent); Active involvement in community and environmental endeavours (20 percent); Demonstration of love and respect for the community including the environment (20 percent); and proper management and utilization of cash grants (15 percent).
Eloisa E. Tabirara of the Provincial Planning and Development Office, Antonio Peña of the Governor’s Office, and Soledad Eugenio of the Department of Health served as judges for the contest.
The 1st Place winner will serve as the province’s representative in the regional search upon the endorsement of the provincial governor.
Regional winner will then represent the region for the national round. Grand Prize winner will receive P15,000 and a plaque; first runner-up will get P10,000 plus plaque; and second runner-up will win P5,000 and a plaque.
According to the search guidelines, the activity will encourage Filipino families to serve as inspirations and encourage other families to exercise family values and be productive in their communities.
The activity was attended by the Municipal Welfare and Development Officers of the 11 towns, members of the Provincial Advisory Committee and Governance Committee of 4Ps, and other guests. (MAL/EAB-PIA5, Catanduanes)
