By Analiza S. Macatangay

PILI, Camarines Sur, July 5 (PIA) -- Governor Migz Villafuerte, newly elected chief executive of Camarines Sur, cited education, housing, provision of potable water to the residents at the outskirts of the province and livelihood programs as his administration's priority programs in the next three years.

Villafuerte bared in his executive address during the inaugural session of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Camarines Sur Tuesday the need to alleviate the quality of life of his constitutents. Villafuerte said this can be done by instituting reforms that will be an opportunity for his constituents to be empowered and self reliant through what he call 4Ps or “Paaralan, Pabahay, Patubig and Pangkabuhayan-Puhunan” and 4Ts for “Trabaho, Tinampo, Training and Patubig" programs.

“Time is short and I would like to seize the opportunity to offer new programs and pursue development for my constituents,” Villafuerte said.

Villafuerte said that his administration will pursue Public-Private Partnership or PPP in line with the thrust of the Aquino Administration proving successful partnership forged between the government and private sectors particularly in terms of tourism, infrastructure and provision of employment to the members of the community.

The governor is also bent of pursuing the Bicol River Comprehensive Program once in place focusing on the rehabilitation of the Bicol River and the creation of the potable water system and livelihood initiatives for the river-side residents.

The agriculture sector will also be strengthened through a consultative council that will help the province in crafting the blueprint in achieving enhanced productivity and better life for the farmer and their families.

Other programs that the young governor aims to fulfill include the revision of various ordinances particularly income generating provisions that will help sustain the social services of the province.

Climate climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, renewable sources of energy, development of the provincial land use plan, internet connectivity and institution of e-learning in public schools form part of the programs that Villafuerte intends to push.

In his message, Villafuerte said that his initial work plan will particularly focus in the “course of continuity” which means continuing the programs and projects that his predecessor and his father has started.

“The past 9 years have been a great leap for Camarines Sur. I will not sway in tracking the path that placed the province in the map of the world, and the initiatives that has earned the province accolades from other countries, “ Villafuerte said. (MAL/LSM/PIA5-Camarines Sur)
