NAGA CITY, June 13 (PIA) -- The Social Security System (SSS) provincial office has launched the SSS AlkanSSSya program to encourage groups from the transport sector, driver’s associations, market vendors, including its affiliations and associations to save through a minimal fee.
SSS Camarines Sur spokesperson Grace Nacional said for only P10 each day, members of the informal sector will have a chance to receive all the benefits due to a legitimate SSS member by signing up and joining the newest Alkansya program of the said agency.
They will be entitled to premiums being received by regular SSS members like availment of loans, pension and other benefits from the SSS.
Mayor John Bongat of this city has lauded the agency’s move in coming up with a program that will serve the marginalized sector. More or less a thousand pedicab drivers, tricycle drivers, market and ambulant vendors, even self-employed partakers attended the said activity.
Bongat said that the program will help members of the marginalized sector and their families to secure their future when they retire.
Nacional said that the local government will hand over an “alkansya” to the group where they are going to put their contribution as payment for their monthly dues. The group must be able to come up with a total of P312 which will be remitted to the SSS Naga Branch as their monthly contribution.
Present during the occasion was SSS Naga Branch Head, Claribel L. Rebueno and the President and SSS Chief Executive Officer Emilio S. De Quiros Jr.
A memorandum of agreement (MOA) signing was also executed by various organizations in line with their commitment to pursue the said program. Various members were represented through their organizations which include the Naga city Padyak Operators and Drivers Federation (NACIPODRIF) represented by its President Ma. Fe Laureta, Bantay Kapalibutan (Environmental Watch Solid East and West) and Balatas Kadamay, among others.
They were assisted by SSS Assistant Branch Head Elizabeth A. De Guzman, CEO II Engineer Nono M.Santiago and Engr. Joel P. Martin of the Solid Waste Management Group.
Wrapping up the program was the ceremonial dropping of coins headed by De Quiros and Mayor Bongat. The official sticker was glued on the AlkanSSSya units where the partakers initially drop off their savings as a sign of their commitment to the Alkansya Program. (MAL/LSM- PIA5/Camarines Sur)
