DOLE vows more jobs, livelihood opportunities in 2013

By Marlon A. Loterte

LEGAZPI CITY, Feb. 13 (PIA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regional office here has chosen “Marangal na trabaho at disenteng hanapbuhay ang daan tungo sa kaunlaran,” (provision of a respectable and decent job in pursuit of growth and progress) as this year’s campaign slogan with the assurance of more jobs and livelihood opportunities for Bicolanos.

DOLE 5 Regional Director Nathaniel V. Lacambra said the agency’s regional program and plan remain in consonance with the directives of DOLE Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz on the agreements in the recent employment planning conference recently held here.

Lacambra said DOLE 5 is working this year on strengthening its employment promotions program like jobs fair, PHIL-Job Net, Public Employment Service Office and the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES).

He added the agency will also pursue the establishment of a strong and working labor relations program through improved implementation of inspection, technical assistance visit (TAV), Single Entry Approach (SENA), Kasambahay Bill and the strict implementation of DOLE Department Order 118-12 on the benefits of bus drivers and conductors.

DOLE will also look expedite the convergence of all programs of member-bureaus of the DOLE Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC).

“The marching orders of Sec. Baldoz is very clear, for the convergence of all programs of the different agencies under DOLE to come up with a coherent approach in providing services to the people,” Lacambra said.

DOLE 5 plans were firmed up after the four-day Employment Enhancement and Luzon Regional Operations Joint Conference held last January 16-19 here. (MAL-PIA5/Albay)
