NAGA CITY, Dec. 14 (PIA) --The National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) has donated and turned over a new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine to the Bicol Medical Center (BMC).
Dr. Mary Jane Uy, BMC assistant director, said that new equipment will be very beneficial for patients of cancer, tumor, skeletal injury and other illnesses or disorders that need detailed imaging or picture of their condition. MRI is a medical imaging technique that will be used to visualize the detailed internal structures of the body.
Uy said that while BMC has the best CT scan services, an MRI will give their patients more extensive and more comprehensive result when it comes to the details necessary for the diagnosis of their ailment.
BMC management is thankful to the administration of NKTI for donating an almost P100M worth of MRI and handling the cost of its transfer to BMC.
BMC is one of the 13 medical centers in the region run by national government. Although classified as tertiary hospital, BMC still caters to minor cases and assists the influx of various patients coming from various parts of the region. BMC is also under the direct supervision of the Department of Health Center for Health Development in Bicol.
It is also mandated to accommodate all patients who will be in need of hospitalization or medical services and extend their assistance to indigent patients who, most of the times are not capable of paying their hospital bills.
BMC management also ensures that it will be the government’s partner in the implementation of the Kalusugang Pangkalahatan or the universal health care program of the government as part of President Benigno Aquino’s health agenda.
The MRI will be inaugurated tomorrow at the Bicol Medical Center which formally signals its readiness to serve not only the Camarinenses but also the Bicolanos. (MAL/LSM-PIA5/Camarines Sur)
