Legazpi jail inmates pledge support to the 18th Nat’l Crime Prevention Week program
LEGAZPI CITY, Albay, Sept 15 (PIA) -- Forty Legazpi City Jail inmates voluntarily pledged their support on September 5 to the Jail Residents’ Ceremonial Commitment Program for the celebration of the 18th National Crime Prevention Week (NCPWD).
The program intends to raise among the residents the significance of their reformation in the battle against crime, further, show them that there are in fact, other agencies outside the facility who are concerned of their welfare.
“It is important that the inmates should remember what they have pledged this very day, that their signatures were affixed in the commitment tarpaulin in a promise to improve their lives and become useful and law-abiding citizens of the country upon their release,” Assistant Regional Director for Administration JSupt. Samson A. Penilla said in his message.
National Police Commission (Napolcom-5) Regional Director Rodolfo G. Santos has cited the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology for the consistent support in their programs.
This was the second time that the Legazpi City Jail hosted the event.
“You should know that only this region involves the participation of the inmates. This is indeed a unique practice. Our only hope is that we keep in mind what we have promised this day,” Santos said.
This year’s theme for NCPW is anchored on “Sa Crime Prevention, May Magagawa Ako!” (RMCastor-BJMP5/MAL/CRS-PIA5)
