Dangal ng Kalikasan award to honor environment champs

VIRAC, Catanduanes, April 14 (PIA) -- This year’s celebration of Linggo ng Kalikasan on June will feature the very first Dangal ng Kalikasan award to give recognition to individuals who are selflessly dedicated in promoting the preservation of the environment.
Dangal ng Kalikasan award was institutionalized through Executive Order No. 5, series of 2012 issued by Governor Joseph C. Cua of the province of Catanduanes.
According to Gov. Cua, it’s high time to honor those individuals and organization including the local government units and national government agencies who have steadfast commitment in supporting and promoting the welfare of the environment.
The award, which will be in the form of a plaque of recognition or monetary incentive or both, shall be conferred to the recipient after thorough evaluation by the search committee establishes that the awardee had exhibited such unquestionable commitment.
Likewise, a search committee was formed to evaluate submitted documents and recommend recipients a month before the Linggo ng Kalikasan celebration on the third week of June.
It shall be composed of the PENR Officer as chairman and the SP Environment Committee chair, Catanduanes State Colleges President, 83rd IB battalion commander, PNP provincial director, Radyo ng Bayan Virac station manager, and the Catanduanes Tribune publisher, as members. (MAL/EAB-PIA Catanduanes)
