NAGA CITY, Nov. 22 (PIA) --- To actively engage the youth in raising awareness on early teen pregnancy, including key reproductive health issues, substance abuse and other prevailing health concerns affecting the youth, the Bicol Medical Center (BMC) recently opened the BMC Teen Wellness Center.
The teenage-friendly facilities in the center endeavors to enjoin the youngsters, particularly women who had an early baptism to motherhood to have an alternative option in pursuing a life they deserve even after giving birth.
For more recall and familiarity, BMC taught of renaming the Teen Wellness Center, a name that would enjoin youngsters to avail its services and encourage others to do the same.
Dr. Annaliza Abainza, BMC Teen Wellness Center Program Coordinator stated that they are looking for a catchy name that will suit the center.
“We want to solicit the opinion and ideas of the young people and will ask them why they have chosen that name. Along the suggested name, they have to write a one-paragraph explanation why they came up with their choice.
The “Youth Name it” competition is open to all interested youth.
The contest is still part of the BMC Teen Wellness Program and aims to address persistent problems besetting the youth like anxiety, depression, suicide, HIV/AIDS, drug addiction, over-all wellness,other teen health concerns aside from early pregnancy.
For the criteria; 40 per cent goes to Originality which says that the center's suggested name must be fresh, new and have never been used by other existing health and wellness centers; Relevance and essence for 30 percent which means that the the name should denote a youthful spirit, shall be appropriate, culturally acceptable and implicitly hints the services being offered by the center and last, Appeal with 30 percent which says that the name must be pleasing and attractive to the youth.

Interested participants may submit their entries at the BMC Teen Wellness Center, OPD Bicol Medical Center Compound, Concepcion Pequena, Naga City. They may email it at bmcteens@gmail.com or post it at FB@bicolteens.
The winning entry will be announced through the social media platform and over the radio. The winner will receive Php1,000.00 (tax free) plus Center for Research and Development (CRTD) give away and certificate. Non-winning entries will also receive consolation prizes.
