VIRAC, Catanduanes, Oct. 28 (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Catanduanes provincial office spearheaded the Consumers Assembly on Thursday at ARDCI Function Hall here to provide a venue for the sufficient and effective advocacy and information dissemination regarding consumer rights and responsibilities.
According to Heginio A. Baldano, DTI Catanduanes provincial director, the activity also served as the culminating activity of the Consumer’s Welfare Month pursuant to Proclamation No. 1098 on the theme: “Consumer Protection: “A Shared Responsibility”.
Baldano added that such awareness of their rights and responsibilities would help them take measure to know and make informed decisions about their transactions.
The event was attended by representatives from business sector, senior citizens, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), youth, media, Local Government Units (LGUs) and national government agency representatives.
In his message during the program which was delivered by Vice-Governor Shirley A. Abundo, Governor Joseph C. Cua said, consumers are impatient in propelling progress in the country as a whole.
He mentioned that even before entering politics, his family had ahead engaged in business, and they see to it that their consumers are given due rights. He also expressed hope that the activity will increase awareness of consumers’ rights and responsibilities.
Cua added that Catanduanes has entered a new phase of development. The competition of business is growing healthy and investors are encouraged to put up their businesses in the province.
