LEGAZPI CITY, Oct. 18 (PIA) – A total of 13 proponent-barangays received some P5.3 million fund assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for the 789 home-based and self-employed workers from the municipality of Labo in Camarines Norte.
DOLE Camarines Norte provincial head Jane L. Rolda turned over the check with the corresponding amounts to respective village chiefs along with other barangay officials present to witness awarding ceremony.
The fund assistance were downloaded to the barangays and will be exclusively used for the purchase of equipment, tools and jigs for the beneficiaries' identified livelihood undertaking such as carpentry/masonry, welding, auto-mechanic, electrical servicing, dressmaking/tailoring, beauty care/hair cut, food processing and the like.
The 13 identified barangays belong to the second batch that qualified as Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) of DOLE, namely Pag-asa, Malasugui, Baay, Bagacay, Pangpang, Bakiad, Macogon, Talobatib, Bautista, Pinya, Gumamela, Fundado and Tulay na Lupa. The first batch was composed of 7 barangays who received the same in 2014.
Rolda acknowledged the significant contribution of the barangays in the effective delivery of projects/services of Department that reaches even the farthest communities and provides them livelihood assistance towards income-augmentation of disadvantaged workers in the informal sector.
