VIRAC, Catanduanes, June 29 (PIA) - Results of nationwide promotional examination for Senior Police Officer which were released last week revealed that a policeman from Virac nailed the first rank.
Police Officer III Heracio Jamero Vargas topped the nationwide exam administered by the National Police Commission last April 24, 2016. Vargas is native of barangay Concepcion, Virac and was once assigned to the Virac municipal police station.
He garnered a rating of 86 percent to land at the top among the 3,483 examinees who passed the SPO promotional test.
Another police officer from Virac, PO1 Lani Basilio of barangay Gogon sirangan, was at 20th place with a rating of 81.6%. On the other hand, Calatagan resident PO1 Emar Vargas was ranked 13th in promotional exam for Police Officer.
The April 24 NAPOLCOM exams in designated testing centers all over the country consisted of the PNP entrance test, with 23,175 examinees, and the promotional exams for PO, SPO, Inspector and Superintendent, with 189,673 applicants.
The three-hour entrance examination for PNP entrance covered questions on general information, verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and logical reasoning; while the promotional examinations include general information, police administration and operations, and police customs and tradition/values and ethical standards.
Only 5,493 or 27.92% hurdled the promotional tests, with the passers distributed as follows: PO, 1,505; SPO, 3,483; Inspector, 404; and Superintendent, 101. On the other hand, just 2,705 examinees or 11.67% passed the PNP entrance exam. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
