LEGAZPI CITY, June 17 (PIA) -- Some 114 members of the city and municipal action teams (C/MAts) in Bicol region under the stewardship of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will train on a convergence strategy in order to maximize the impact of social protection programs and initiatives of the government to the communities.
DSWD Bicol regional director Arnel Garcia said the agency has adopted the convergence strategy which prevails the ideal mechanism that must be embedded in the paradigm and harmonizes the interface of the various program process owners.
"Main implementers of the convergence strategy are the C/MATs, composed of Municipal Links Project Development Officers and the Area Coordinators, who are tasked to enhance and strengthen the convergence operations in every municipality with the end result of contributing to the Department’s over- all mission and vision of achieving a more tangible and sustainable interventions to address socio- economic inequities," Garcia said.
The training program, according to him, will help improve the objective of improving and strengthen the leadership capacities of the C/MATs and promote proper work values, attitudes.
Ateneo de Naga University (AdeNU), by virtue of a memorandum of agreement (MOA with the DSWD, has expressed willingness to forge a partnership to train the C/MATs using the Bridging Leadership Program with the following modules: Leadership Skills, Team Management, Partnership Building Network and Technical Writing.
The training on the Bridging Leadership Program will be carried out at the AdeNU under the office of the Center for Local Governance.
While the academic institution is in- charge of the capability building activities, the DSWD will provide the corresponding fees to the school for the service provided. Likewise the trainees shall be provided with perdiem and travelling expenses for the whole duration of the training.
The training program was launched last June 15, 2016 at Bro. Richard Michael Fernando, SJ Hall, Ateneo de Naga University, Naga City. (MAL-PIA5/Albay)
