LEGAZPI CITY, June 28 (PIA) – Elected officials of the provincial government of Albay led yesterday the historic inaugural ceremony as they jointly took their oath of office at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall here.
Former governor and 2nd district of Albay congressman-elect Joey Sarte Salceda cited the inauguration as historic being the first time for the officials present to take their oath of office in one venue noting the systematic transfer of power symbolically and physically and grand display of unity in the province.
“It is my honor to turn over the leverage of power to a good man,” Salceda said.
Salceda also expressed his gratitude for the trust, love and care of the Albayanos as he served the province for nine years as governor and another nine years as congressman.
Together with Salceda are Governor Al Francis Bichara, Vice-Governor Harold Ong Imperial and board members from the three districts of Albay.
Benhur Ariola Jr., Homapon barangay captain, administered Salceda’s oath of office while Hon. Edgar Armes, presiding judge of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 4 here, swore in Bichara.
Imperial, along with the elected board members, then took their turns in taking oath of office under Bichara.
Bichara has earlier promised to exert all efforts to bring Albay to a new height of prosperity, promote employment and tourism, maintain peace and order, and improve the quality of life of Albayanos.
He further urged the people’s support and cooperation to work as a team in carrying out his program.
“I wish to reach out to each and everyone of you to set aside our political differences, and instead join and help me promote the welfare and serve the interest of our fellow Albayanos. The best is yet to come with us working together in harmony. Magtarabangan kita gabos.(Let us help each other),” Bichara said. (MAL/SAA-PIA5/Albay)
