Legazpi City, Albay – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in Bicol region has warned the public of bogus inspectors posing as DOLE employees.
“We have received many circulating reports about individuals posing as DOLE inspectors and have been doing solicitations,” said newly appointed DOLE Bicol regional director Atty. Ma. Karina Perida-Trayvilla.
“Let it be known to the public that it is prohibited, for employees of DOLE, to receive any form of solicitation,” she added.
On their Management Committee (ManCom) meeting, Trayvilla said their Labor Laws Compliance Officers (LLCOs) are not allowed to go to any company or office without prior authorization from the regional director. As of now, DOLE Bicol only has fourteen LLCOs, and their prime functions are only to check salary and assist companies to voluntarily adhere to DOLE’s regulations.
In order to identify authorized LLCOs, the public is advised to check DOLE’s website (www.ro5.dole.gov.ph) where the names and photos of their LLCOs are posted.
“We have also received reports about people introducing themselves as DOLE employees or retired employees, offering special arrangements allegedly from DOLE. These are fake”, stated Trayvilla. DOLE made it clear that their retired or dismissed employees are not authorized conduct visits to any company or to represent the department.
The same reminder has been released by DOLE seven years ago, and again in 2013, when news were received about people falsely representing DOLE to ask for money.
According to DOLE Bicol, the focus of their office is to provide clean, honest, and efficient service to Bicolanos in the labor aspect. Any authorized payment to be received by DOLE can only be done within their respective regional and provincial offices, stated DOLE.
Trayvilla also is also urging everyone to report to their office, or other proper authorities, if they would encounter anyone untruly representing DOLE. This is a form of fraud, and is punishable by the law. (MAL/JBE-PIA5)
