SORSOGON CITY, April 20, 2016 (PIA) – The Commission on Media for Evangelization (CME) of the Diocese of Sorsogon, through the 102.3 Spirit FM Sorsogon of the Good News Sorsogon Foundation Incorporated (GNSFI), will spearhead the Candidates’ Forum, a non-partisan initiative for the 2016 May polls provincial post and calls for Sorsogon voters to actively participate during the event.
According to Rev. Philippe Andrew B. Gallanosa, CME Chairperson and GNSFI general manager, the Candidates’ Forum is slated on April 22, 2016, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM to be held at the Aemilianum College, Inc. Gymnasium located in Brgy. Piot, Sorsogon City.
The forum will be held partnership with multi-partite group composed of church, media, civic, government and other non-government entities who have the same advocacy of making the voting population of Sorsogon better informed about their choices for electing officials during this election season.
Dubbed as Sorsogon, Pili Na! (SPN) 2016, this local Candidates’ Forum is specifically designed to promote the common good and help the voters of Sorsogon come up with an informed choice and select during election day the best leader who can serve the purpose of true leadership.
“SPN 2016 is a platform and program-based forum, which will put together the people of Sorsogon, and the candidates for the local government offices of Representative, Governor and Vice Governor,” said Fr. Gallanosa.
He furthered that this will allow the candidates to present to the whole province and the whole world, through those who are physically present, and through the media, their platforms and programs and likewise will allow the sovereign people to air out concerns and issues, and platform and program-based questions.
This will be aired live on Spirit FM 102.3 radio and live streamed at www.ustream.tv/channel/spiritfmsorsogon to reach a wide audience.
The forum will be segmented with three parts. The first part will focus on issue based and platform based questions from the public or the stakeholders. The approved beforehand questions will be put into a sealed container and the candidates will pick their own questions for themselves and answer within the time allotted.
The second part will be slated for issue based and platform based questions from the panelists representing the different sectors of the society.
While the third part will be for screened questions from the live audience, physically present or via phone call or text message. The moderators on behalf of the live audience will ask the questions to the candidates.
Fr. Gallanosa pointed out that the SPN 2016 is a forum to hear and pose questions to the candidates. “It is not planned as a debate between opposing candidates,” he also added.
Meanwhile, Fr. Gallanosa calls on the candidates not to fail the public’s expectation by participating to the forum, and for the public not to miss the opportunity to have a personal encounter with the provincial candidates of Sorsogon. (MAL/BAR-PIA5/Sorsogon)
