LEGAZPI CITY, Feb 16 (PIA) – Effective Monday, Feb. 15, the minimum fare for public utility jeepneys or PUJs in Bicol region is P7.00 for first four kilometers, according to a regional official of Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Bicol.
LTFRB Bicol administrative officer Jose Descalzo clarified over the Aramon Ta Daw radio program of the Philippine Information Agency Bicol that the rollback is due in part to series of rollback in prices of petroleum products in local and global markets and also provisional which may be subjected to change.
“The P0.50 fare rollback is provisional, which comes from the series of oil price rollback, so it may change in the coming days depending on changes in the oil market,” Descalzo said.
An additional P1.40 will be charged per succeeding kilometer.
With the 20% discount grant, minimum fare for students, person with disabilities or PWDs and senior citizens will be P5.60.
Instead of a fare matrix, Descalzo said notice of fare adjustment will be posted in terminals for public information.
He also urged the media and other concerned government agencies to help them in dissemination and enforcement of the said rollback.(MAL/SAA-PIA5/Albay)
