VIRAC, Catanduanes, Jan. 19 (PIA) -- Bato Rural Development High School was declared as this year’s champion’s of the 15th edition of the Cesar V. Sarmiento Oratorical Cup.
The tourney which was held on January 08, 2016 at Catanduanes National High School Auditorium focused on the theme: “Dole-Out Mentality Versus Accomplishment-Driven Public Service: How Will They Influence Our Votes in the Coming Polls?”
Francis Camacho of BRDHS won the best oratorical piece and clinched the championship, worth P10, 000.00 cash and a glass trophy and P4, 000.00 for his coach Fredelyn Tarrobal.
The champion’s school’s trophy, which Bato RDHS will host for a year was crafted by artist Edwin Ocampo made out of narra wood and steel from old railroad tracks. Bato RDHS also received a special prize aside from a certificate of appreciation that was given to all participating schools.
Placing 1st runner-up was Angelique Jenfel Abraham of Tubli National High School in Caramoran who earned P8, 000.00 and a similar trophy plus P4, 000.00 for coach Irene Aguilar.
Ella Mae Verona of Catanduanes Colleges was 2nd runner-up taking home P6, 000.00 plus a trophy while Coach Francia Butial went home with P2, 000.00.

Emilio Rodulfo Jr. of Catanduanes National High School (coach: Evelia Malijan); Cristine Joy Posada of Antipolo National High School (coach: Ma. Zeny Abundo); Williame Kent Pascua of Bagamanoc RDHS (coach: Ma. Theresa Vitalicio); Aika santos of Viga RDHS (coach: Cynthia Tuibeo); Ericka Mae Valenzuela of Agban NHS (coach: Marissa Aguilar); and John Paul Vega of Panganiban NHS (coach” Cristine Mae Petajen).
The non-winners received certificates of participation and P1, 000.00 each as token of appreciation while their coaches got certificates of recognition and P1, 000.00 honorarium.
The Board of Judges, chaired by manila-based insurance company owner Victorio Valledor, also had as members EBMC Chief Dr. Vietrez Abella, Prosecutor Atty. Louie T. Guerrero, Tribune Publisher-Editor Fernan A. Gianan, rev. Fr. Paul Isorena, and DepEd Division supervisor Dr. Gina Pantino.
