LEGAZPI CITY, Aug 28 (PIA) – The Civil Service Commission (CSC) Bicol has enjoined officials and employees of government agencies in the region to participate in the tree plantign and growing activity on September 1, 2015 in Lidong, Sto. Domingo to significantly commence the month long celebration of the 115th Philippine Civil Service anniversary with the theme “Kayang-kaya mo Lingkod Bayani!.”
“This activity aims to imbibe in every civil servant a deep sense of environmental responsibility, as part of their duty to the country as lingkod bayani," said CSC Bicol director Cecilia Nieto.
Nieto added said activity also seeks to raise awareness among government employees about their important role in the implementation of the National Greening Program.
The National Greening Program (NGP) is a massive forest rehabilitation program of the government established by virtue of Executive Order No. 26 issued on Feb. 24, 2011 by President Benigno S. Aquino III.
It is a priority program of the government that aims to reduce poverty; promote food security, environmental stability, and biodiversity conservation; and enhance climate change mitigation and adaptation.
To raise consciousness on environmental protection, participants are also discouraged from bringing plastic bags or containers.
Assembly time is 5:00am at the Peñaranda Park, legazpi City.
For more information, contact CSC office at 480-2332.
Also part of the activities in line with the anniversary celebration are display of anniversary banner in government offices, fun run, Honor Awards Program (HAP) Rites for the 2015 Presidential Lingkod Bayan, Dangal ng Bayan, and CSC Pagasa Awardees, government choral competition (GCC) and special treats for government employees such as discount packages and freebies.
