VIRAC, Catanduanes, March 27 (PIA)- The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) here and its accredited agent banks will open on two weekends—tomorrow, Saturday, and April 11, also a Saturday—to serve taxpayers.
Revenue District Officer Arturo D. Abenoja, Jr., said the office on those Saturdays was in compliance with Bank Bulletin No. 2015-03 issued by BIR Commissioner Kim S. Jacinto-Henares which requires all BIR-Authorized Agent Banks (AABs) to accept tax payments on March 28 and April 11.
Abenoja said AABs must also extend banking hours up to 5 p.m from April 1 to April 15 to accept tax returns and payments.
He added that authorized agent banks should refrain from refusing payments from taxpayers who are already within their premises by the close of the extended banking hours during the filing period.
Banks are also authorized to accept two or more checks or combination of cash and check in the payment of a single tax liability, Abenoja said.
