LEGAZPI CITY, July 14 (PIA) - The Albay Council on Education (ACE) and Search and Awards Committee (SAC) for the Gawad Albay sa Edukasyon convened last week developments on the implementation of the awards program that has since contibuted to the improvements to the quality of education in the province.
Now on its seventh installment, the annual Gawad Albay sa Edukasyon is an awards system that recognizes and rewards the significant contributions of teachers, principals, students and local government units to the cause of quality education in the province.
Board Member Richard Benjamin Imperial, chair of the Committee on Education as well as of ACE, said that education in Albay gets a lion’s share in the provincial budget and you can be assured that our full support will be given to education, adding that Governor Joey Salceda has assured him that no budget cuts will ever be made for the education sector.
BU President Dr. Lauraya stated that although the ACE and SAC started out as an awards giving body, it has grown into a program that has included trainings to further develop and bolster the state of education in Albay.
PED Head Nenita Villalon for her part lauded the Dep Ed divisions of Albay, Legazpi, Ligao, and Tabaco and acknowledged their efforts in the impressive growth that they have shown in the past 7 years.
Villalon also asked all members of the conference to encourage more participants to the different categories where the PGA and PED extends recognition and awards to students, teachers, principals, LGUs, and barangays which have shown excellence in the field of education.
“We are extending the deadline for the submission of nomination forms for candidates in SEAL, TOTAL, TROPICAL, BAKAS, and Kadunong from July 18, 2014 to July 21, 2014 to fully accommodate those that are eligible to receive the recognition they so deserve.” Said Villalon
The ACE and SAC committee hopes to bestow the awards on October 5, 2014 in time with the International Teachers Day. (MAL/PGAlbay-PIO/PIA5/Albay)
