VIRAC, Catanduanes, April 23, (PIA) - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will open registration of new voters starting May 6 this year in preparation for the May 9, 2016 national and local elections
Atty. Maria Aurea C. Bo-Bunao, chief of Comelec office in Catnaduanes, said the Commission has issued Resolution No. 9853 providing the rules and regulations on the resumption of the system of continuing registration of voters, validation and updating of registration records for the May 9, 2016 synchronized national, local and ARMM regional elections and other registration policies.
According to Bo-Bunao, Comelec offices will be open even on Sundays and a satellite registration will be set up in at least one (1) barangay in a locality and upon request.
The Comelec provincial chief thus encouraged those who still don't have biometrics data to validate their records.
"Voter registration is open to those who are 18 years old and above by May 6, 2014; to those whose 18th birthday would fall on May 6, 2014, and on any day up to and including May 8, 2015," she added.
Comelec will also cater services the likes of transfer of registration records, change of entries, correction of entries, reactivation, inclusion of registration records, reinstatement in list of voters, updating of records for PWDs, senior citizens and indigenous (IPs) and validation.
Applicants must present one (1) valid ID to their respective local COMELEC election officer.
