LEGAZPI CITY, Mar 28 (PIA) – The Provincial Government of Albay will hold the Women Summit on March 31, 2014 at the Albay Astrodome here in support of the celebration of the Women’s Month this March and considered one of the highlights of this year’s Daragang Magayon Festival.
Anchored on the theme, “Juana, ang Tatag Mo ay Tatag Natin sa Pagbangon at Pagsulong,” the gathering will be recognizing strong and resilient women in the province and their contribution to progress.
It also aims to enhance their skills to help them handle simple household and financial management and strengthen their coping mechanism during crisis situation by understanding the role of women during disasters.
Albay Gender and Development - Technical Working Group (GAD-TWG) chair Cynthia Samalia said the affair will also recognize Local Government Units (LGUs) who are supportive of initiating the localization of Magna Carta of Women by crafting their GAD Code.
Participants mostly from women’s organization in Albay will also hear success stories of women from all walks of life who have “created change towards better perception on women’s empowerment and gender equality
About a thousand women and men are expected to join the activity which will be an interactive process.
Speakers are invited to discuss gender-related topics.
Motivational speakers Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, Katherine Villegas and an executive from a business establishment will also be coming. (MAL/SAA-PIA5/Albay)
