CIA sets 8th medical mission in Catanduanes

VIRAC, Catanduanes, Feb. 06 (PIA) - Catanduanes International Association (CIA) Inc., will be holding its 8th medical mission in Catanduanes on February 10-14, 2014.

In a press statement, Myrna Walsh-Rodriguez, CIA president, said that this year’s mission will feature various activities both for the recipients of the activity and the members of the organization.

CIA said the surgical and dental patients will be accommodated at the Eastern Bicol Medical Center while medical consultations will be conducted at the Plaza Rizal Covered Courts.

Ancillary relief aid in the form of useable clothing, shoes, toys and rice will also be distributed to the patients.

On Feb. 07, medicines and supplies to be used for the mission will be classified by the group at Eastern Bicol Medical Center (EBMC).

To familiarize their role in the activity, volunteers from Manila will be oriented on Feb. 08.

On Sunday, a holy mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Cathedral to be attended by the entire mission group.

The medical mission proper will start on Feb. 10 wherein a critique meeting at 4 pm will be held daily.

Catanduanes International Association, Inc., is a non-profit organization which aims to help the indigent people of the island province of Catanduanes.

The activity is spearheaded by chairperson Dr. Oscar Enriquez, co-chairperson Dr. Erlinda Velasco, co-chairperson Dr. Santos Zafe, CIA president Myrna Rodriguez-Walsh, RN, and CIA board chairman Lydia Mendez.

The mission members and volunteers consist of licensed physicians, nurses, pharmacist, allied health personnel and non-medical personnel, with the support of the Eastern Bicol Medical Center, Provincial Health Office, Virac Rural Health Unit, Virac Mayor Flerida Alberto, Governor Araceli Wong, and Congressman Cesar Sarmiento.
