Legazpi City, Oct 14 (PIA) – The mayors of Legazpi and Makati City recently signed a sisterhood agreement to boost economic and community development in the two cities.
Legazpi City mayor Noel Rosal and Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay both vowed to support each other to promote and foster strong friendship and goodwill.
This city initiated the agreement through Resolution Number 0258-2011 sponsored by Councilor Alan Ranola and approved by Vice Mayor Vittorio Roces during the 35th regular session of the city council on October 11, 2011.
The resolution expressed the desire of the City of Legazpi to establish a sisterhood with the City of Makati.
It was officially approved on October 17, 2011 under the term of former mayor Carmen Geraldine Rosal.
The current city mayor said the relationship will open windows for opportunities to uplift the lives of all the people living in the territorial areas of the two cities.
“This will also mean a sharing of knowledge and expertise in the field of good governance towards prosperity and continuous success in urban and rural development,” Rosal said.
He stressed that this relationship will also serve as a vehicle to improve their initiatives towards the adoption of science and technology, culture and arts, tourism, planning and urban development, commerce, trade and industry, education and sports development, environmental protection, public health and social services.
Binay, on the other hand, vowed to help Legazpi to continue improve its business sector by way of encouraging other giant investors to put up business here.
The Makati mayor said he is very willing to share the key programs of his administration to Legazpi for the benefit of the Legazpenos and help Legazpi remain a strong modern city of the region. (MAL/SAA/PIA5-Albay)
