Hemodialysis unit serves 19 patients in one year

VIRAC, Catanduanes, July 15 (PIA)- Almost one year after it started operations, 19 patients are being served regularly by the Hemodialysis Unit (HDU) at Juan M. Alberto Memorial District Hospital (JMAMDH).

In a simple celebration of its one year of operation, a dialogue with the patients on July 11.

Dr. Ma. Bessie R. Zafe, JMAMDH Chief of Hospital expressed her gratitude to former Gov. Joseph C. Cua, Vice-Governor Jose J. Teves, Jr., KEB Health and Wellness System, the Provincial Health Office and the sole physician in charge of the unit for their unwavering support.

She said the five-bed HDU ease the emotional and financial burdens of the 19 patients being served regularly by the HDU since they don’t need to travel to mainland Bicol for their treatment.

Meanwhile, in a message of Governor Araceli B. Wong read by Provincial Board Member Giovanni Balmadrid, she commended former Gov. Cua for initiating the project in JMAMDH. According to her, the acquisition of the unit is a dream come true for stakeholders especially to those in need of the equipment.

She likewise pledged her commitment to improve the health services in the province.

The dialysis machine at JMAMDH started its operation last July 25, 2012 through a private-public partnership between the Provincial Government and KEB Health & Wellness Systems, Inc. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
