Turn-over of PAMANA projects highlights 115th independence day celebration in Cam Norte

DAET, Camarines Norte, June 14 (PIA) -- The turn-over of the “Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan” (PAMANA) 2011 projects highlighted the celebration of the country's 115th Independence Day anniversary in the province of Camarines Norte.

Director Maria Eileen Jose, head of the PAMANA Coordinating Unit for Luzon of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), expressed elation that the local government units and the national government agencies continue to be partners in implementing national programs like the PAMANA.

Jose said that the PAMANA seeks to promote community resilience to conflict through convergence by ensuring that they benefit from improved delivery of basic social services and are served by responsive, transparent and accountable governments on resource allocaltion and utilization, alongside economic development efforts.

Jose said that there are more proposed projects until 2014 for the different towns in the province that need collective efforts of the stakeholders.

She urged stakeholders to join the OPAPP to broaden peace and development for inclusive growth in the province as well as in the country.

DILG Bicol regional director Blandino Maceda, meanwhile stressed that the President in his inaugural address expressed sincere strong commitment to implement his social contract as stipulated in the new Philippine medium term development plan by reducing poverty in the country from 26.5% to 16.6% in 2016.

The inauguration and turn-over of the PAMANA project in the barangay Malibago in Labo town worth P40 million were conducted after the flag raising ceremony.

Jose, along with Governor Edgardo Tallado, Vice-Governor Jonah Pimentel and other national and local government units officials, led the celebration and turn-over activities. (MAL/RBM/PIA5-Camarines Norte)
