VIRAC, Catanduanes, June 18 (PIA) -- Some 295 households in Barangay Cabcab, San Andres now benefit from the Potable Water System project of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and the municipal government here.
The Level-II Potable Water System, which was turned over by DAR on April 17, 2013 to a barangay-based association—Cabcab Waterworks and Sanitation Association, Inc. (CABWASA), was funded with P2.5 Million under the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project-Phase III (ARISP III).
ARIP III is a DAR-implemented foreign assisted project in a joint undertaking with this municipality.
The operation of the water system started in December, 2011 managed by CABSAWA handling the technical and service-delivery systems.
Congressman Cesar V. Sarmiento, along with San Andres Mayor Antonio M. Romano, DAR Catanduanes PARO Alexander T. Teves and barangay officials graced the turnover and acceptance ceremony.
Beneficiaries of the said program were thankful for this DAR-LGU joint undertaking saying that the program gave them access to clean and potable water.
PARO Teves said that the program will also benefit neighboring barangays. He added that ARISP III projects will also be implemented in various parts of the country until August, 2014. (MAL/EAB/PIA5-Catanduanes)
