VIRAC, Catanduanes, June 21 (PIA) -- A high school student of Catanduanes State University (CSU) and a pupil from Juan M. Alberto Memorial Elementary School (JMAMES) bagged the top place in their respective categories in the annual Provincial Eagle Quiz held, June 20, at Kemji Resort, Virac.
The Eagle Quiz is one of the activities led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the province as part of the celebration of the Environment Month this June.
Questions included topics related to the environment. Easy, Average and Difficult questions were given with corresponding points and a point system of correct minus wrong.
Out of 21 secondary schools in the province, Marko Rey S. Tapel, a fourth year student of CSU Laboratory Schools emerged the 1st place in the secondary level. He also took home P3,000, trophy and a certificate. He was coached by Mrs. Teresita S. Panti.
Tapel was tailed by Nonito John Tatel of Catanduanes National High School who landed 2nd place and Judy Ann Lumabi of Supang Datag National High School.
Meanwhile, Sacha Mae D. Abundo of JMAMES got the 1st place in the primary level where 30 primary schools provincewide participated. She was awarded a trophy, certificate and a cash prize of P3,000. Abundo was coached by Ms. Shianne Bisenio.
Marielle T. Tabo of Virac Pilot Elementary School bagged 2nd place for the elementary level followed by Lady Ericka Marintes of Buyo Integrated School.
