By Edna A. Bagadiong

VIRAC, Catanduanes, May 11 (PIA) -- The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Catanduanes Provincial Office is asking the public to participate during the upcoming national and local elections this May 13, 2013.

According to COMELEC Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Maria Aurea C. Bo-Bunao, now is the best time for the voting public to practice their right for suffrage.

She reminded voters not to sell their votes and instead vote wisely according to ones capability to serve and perform his/her function.

Likewise, she said that since May 13 was declared as non-working by President Benigno S. Aquino III, voters have no reason not to be able to vote in their respective precincts.

Starting on the eve of election day on May 12 and during election day, campaigning is already prohibited.

Pres. Aquino signed Proclamation No. 571, s. 2013 on May 7, 2013 declaring May 13, 2013 as a special public holiday.

Catanduanes has a total voting population of 163, 563 from the 11 towns of the province. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
