Sutherland Global Resources to operate in Catanduanes
By Edna A. Bagadiong
VIRAC, Catanduanes, Dec. 22 (PIA) -- The Sutherland Global Resources, one of the largest call centers in the Philippines, will soon operate in Catanduanes.
On December 6, representatives from Sutherland, Governor Joseph C. Cua and Center Mall Operator Joseph Lim signed an agreement on the joint project which provides, among others, call center operations on the third floor of the mall.
The parties agreed that the company may now start recruitment and training of call center agents, Cua said.
Applicants must be 18 years old and above and at least high school graduate.
Those who would qualify for hiring after the training would be deployed in the Legazpi or Naga branches of Sutherland, wherein they shall be allowed to go home weekly.
A target of 1,000 agents within five years will be required for the establishment of the call center in Catanduanes thereby assigning those deployed in other branches in the province to man the operations of the call center in Catanduanes.
Gov. Cua saidthe set-up would be very timely for the completion of Center Mall Annex (formerly JMA Theater and JMA Building being presently occupied by Land Bank) which he is planning to allocate for the call center. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
CIDG has 200 new informants in Masbate
By Ernesto A. Delgado
MASBATE CITY, Dec. 22 (PIA) -- At least 200 private citizens in the island-province of Masbate have been recruited by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to collect information that might help police in investigation.
The new informants were recruited by the CIDG recently as part of an expansive intelligence-gathering program that CIDG Director Samuel D. Pagdilao launched after he founded the Community Investigative Support (CIS) last year.
Pagdilao said last week that CIS members will provide law enforcement personnel with tips about current or future investigation.
Pagdilao, here on a visit to the provincial headquarters of the Philippine National Police, urged police officials to utilize the services of the CIS in the collection of information on suspected lawless persons.
“Communities are not just recipients of our services but they can also be tapped to work alongside the PNP in combating crimes,” he said.
“CIS members will render their services for free,” he added. “Just treat them with respect and give them their due, and they will give you your due.”
In reaction, Bicol Police Regional Director for Operations Arnold L. Albis expressed gratitude for Pagdilao’s generosity.
“The CIS, if utilized properly, can really be a big help in fighting criminals,” Albis said.
With the 2013 mid-term elections fast approaching, Albis said the CIS could play a part in ensuring a safe and orderly balloting in Masbate where most local positions are hotly contested. (MAL/EAD-PIA5, Masbate)
