CSC develops resource portal for human resource management in government
LEGAZPI CITY, Nov. 14 (PIA) -- The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has developed and designed a web portal to serve as technical support and assistance to human resource management (HRM) practitioners in the government, according to the commission regional office here.
The resource Portal for human resource management practitioners in the public service is a gateway for communicating, connecting and capacitating HRM practitioners that can be accessed through the CSC's official web site, www.csc.gov.ph.
Regional director Cecilia Nieto of CSC regional office here explained that the portal is basically an extension for learning using the reach and influence of the internet.
Nieto added that it also supports the roles of HRM practitioners in the Philippine Civil Service by way of information dissemination and knowledge build-up.
The contents include relevant case decisions and resolutions, HR policies, programs and tools, and a synopsis of relevant books.
It also contains external links to other websites such as the Civil Service of other countries, research/educational institutions, and HR-focused organizations which HRMPs may also find helpful.
Nieto stressed that one salient feature of the portal is the Discussion Forum - an avenue for interaction and conservation among HRMPs.
“Through the forum, we hope to foster a vast network of HRM practitioners engaging with one another and to promote an alternative way of enriching the knowledge and perspective on HR topics and concerns,” Nieto said.
All the government's HRM practitioners are encouraged to visit the portal and give comments, suggestions and other feedback through the contact information provided to help improve it. (MAL-PIA5/CSC)
Naga City joins Population and Development Week Celebration
By Ana-Liza S. Macatangay
NAGA CITY, Nov.14 (PIA) -- The city government here will highlight the importance of responsible parenthood and family planning in time for the celebration of the Population and Development Week on November 23 to 29.
Joy Macaraeg, city population and development officer, said that the week-long celebration will feature the services of their office including the role of Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPO) especially in carrying our their annual program regarding population, poverty and governance.
The week-long celebration will cover hanging of streamers in the main thoroughfares of the city particularly in the 27 barangays of Naga and in downtown area during the opening day. On November 26, an On the Spot Poster Making Contest is set to take place at LCC Activity Center. More or less 40 competing students from Grade 6 to 4th Year High School, both from public and private schools will vie for the grand prize.
All family planning volunteers from the 27 barangays of the city will also undergo a re-orientation seminar on November 27. Macaraeg stated that they attribute the success of their family planning program to those BSPO who have conscientiously relayed to the barangay constituents the program of the city regarding family planning.
“We emphasize the right of the couple to decide what method best fits them. Currently, we have a 61 per cent Contraceptive Prevalence rate (CPR), higher than the 60 percent benchmark stated in the Millennium Development Goal (MDG). We can equate the high acceptance rate to the continuous adherence of the couple to our program and in the increase male involvement in family planning concerns,” Macaraeg added.
On the next day, all family planning volunteers, specifically family planning method users are also invited to attend a family welfare club seminar regarding the rights of women. This is in coordination with Bantay Familia through its Chairman, City Councilor Nene De Asis.
One of the highlights of the said activity is the gathering of 250 Responsible Parenting Movement (RPM) representatives coming from the 27 barangays of Naga City. The activity is set to take place at Regent Hotel on November 29. (MAL/LSM-PIA5/Camarines Sur)
