1st Bicol Career and Education Expo slated in Naga City

NAGA CITY, Sept 24 (PIA) -- The University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) – Camarines Sur Chapter will spearhead a three-day First Bicol Career and Education Expo to address the prevalent problem of job career mismatch, specifically for incoming college students.

It will be on September 27 to 29 at the SM City Naga Event Center.

UPAA, in collaboration with the city government here, Metro Naga Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Department of Education – Region 5, has invited universities and educational institutions from all over the Bicol Region and National Capital Region to participate in the said activity.

Speakers from various government institutions like the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Science and Technology, Commission on Higher Education, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, and the Civil Service Commission were also invited to inform students of the different government programs.

The talks will also include latest and future trends in the education and business industry.

The activity, which was specifically designed for third and fourth year high school students, also aims to give students the opportunity to choose from the wide array of courses and the best educational institutions where they can pursue their college degrees.

Various private and public institutions offering scholarship for undergraduate studies will also be around to link up with potential scholars who want to avail of the said opportunity.

Sixteen universities and educational institutions from the Bicol Region and from Metro Manila already signified their participation to the event, while seven other schools and colleges are still for confirmation.

Among these academic institutions are: University of Northeastern Philippines, Aeronautical Academy of the Philippines, University of Nueva Caceres, Mariners Polytechnic Colleges, Ateneo De Naga University, and Naga College Foundation from the Bicol Region.

From the National Capital Region, the following colleges/ universities also extended their affirmation to attend the exposition: Adamson University, Moderne Culinaire Academy, De la Salle University, De la Salle College of St. Benilde, Philippine Normal University, Philippine Women’s University, St. Scholastica’s College, University of the East, Far Eastern University, and AMA Computer College.

UPAACSCI President Clarine P. Tobias confirmed that all 191 private secondary schools in the region have been invited to participate in the said academic endeavor. (MAL/LSM-PIA5, Camarines Sur)
