DBM releases P50M for athletic complex

VIRAC, Catanduanes, August 14 (PIA) -- The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has recently released P50 million for the improvement of the Catanduanes Athletic Complex under the supervision of the municipal government of Virac.

This is in preparation for the 2013 Palarong Bicol to be hosted by the province in February.

Mayor Jose U. Alberto of Virac town has already coordinated with the Department of Works and Highways (DPWH) for the project to begin as soon as possible.

The total amount will be allocated as follows: P36 million for of the complex (the main venue of events); P10 million for Virac main plaza covered court; and P4 million for improvement of athletes' quarters in fifteen (15) school sites.

From the P36 million allotted budget for the complex, P13 million will be spent for the installation of rubberized track around and oval and P12 million for painting, construction of mess hall, bleachers, shower and dressing rooms at the swimming pool, lawn tennis court expansion, construction of archery target range and basketball board replacement into a fiber glass.

Moreover, P2 million is allocated for completion of the perimeter fence and DepEd main gate improvement which serves as one of the entrances of the complex while P5 million will be spent for a drainage system.

At present, the athletic complex in Virac town serves as venue for sports competitions in the province.
