By Edna A. Bagadiong

VIRAC, Catanduanes, Aug 30 (PIA) -- The 112th Philippine Civil Service (PCS) anniversary this September 2012 will highlight heroism in public service.

The month-long anniversary celebration, with the theme “Kawani, Ikaw ay Isang Lingkod Bayani,” aims to promote, showcase and celebrate stories of triumph and sacrifice among men and women in government.

In connection with this, all government offices and agencies in the province are enjoined to participate in the celebration commemorating the birth of Philippine Civil Service.

The activity will formally begin with a kickoff program on September 3, where a mass at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral will be held as a way of thanksgiving for God’s goodness to government workers.

Right after the mass, a civic military parade will follow, which will start at Plaza Rizal to the Provincial Capitol Grounds. Said parade will showcase the different offices and agencies and the bulk of government workers in the province.

Floats of Mutya at Lakan ng Serbisyo Sibil will be put up by LGU-Panganiban and LGU-Bato. The PCS float expresses the inspiration, gratitude and nobility of government workers.

There shall also be a banner-raising per agency who are required to put up their own pole with pulley with the standard height of 14ft above the ground in front of the Provincial Capitol.

On September 7, a bloodletting activity will be spearheaded by the Provincial Health Office at the Provincial Capitol Lobby from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the theme “Giving Life for a New Life.”

An ‘Environment Awareness and Protection’ activity, a coastal and river clean-up at Virac and San Andres Coast and Sto. Domingo River will be conducted on September 21 at 6 a.m. as a commitment of the whole citizenry to protect the environment. A Family Day, a day of fun and relaxation for each office and agency as one family, will precede.

On September 26, the Catanduanes Association of Chiefs of Government Office (CACGO) will spearhead an outreach program to this year’s recipient, Brgy. Suchan, Bagamanoc.

The culminating activity of the celebration, Government Workers Fellowship Night, will be held on September 28, 7 p.m. at Virac Sports Center.

It is a way for every worker to relax and be merry as a prize he owes himself for his dedication to work.

An awarding of certificates to CACGO and Catanduanes Council of Human Resource Management Practitioners (CCHRMP) retirees and transferees will also be featured.

This year’s celebration will be spearheaded by CACGO and the CCHRMP in coordination with the Provincial Government and Civil Service Commission Provincial Field Office. (MAL/EAB-PIA5/Catanduanes)
