National observance of 114th Independence Day on
MANILA, June 7 -- The office of the
President has released Memo Circular # 01 s. 2011 directing the Chair of the
National Historical Commission of the Philippines Dir. Maria Serena I. Diokno, through
Administrative Order No. 23, to Chair and organize the steering committee on
national observance.
The other members of the steering
committee who will undertake the planning and implementation of these activities
include Sec. Jesse M. Robredo of the Department of Interior and Local
Government, Sec. Armin Luistro of the Department of Education, Sec. Ramon
Jimenez of the Department of Tourism, Sec. Voltaire T. Gazmin of the Department
of National Defense and Sec. Sonny Coloma of the Presidential Communications Operations
Office.
According to Steering Committee Chair,
Dir. Maria Serena I. Diokno of the NHCP, a Technical Working Committee is also
formed to support this National Steering Committee on National Observances in
planning and implementing activities related to the 114th
Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence. Executive Director
of the NHCP Ludovico Badoy chairs the Technical Working Committee with
representatives from DILG, Dep. Ed as co-chair and DOT as vice chair.
The other member agencies are DFA, DPWH, DOTC, DND, DBM, DA, DOST, DENR, DAR, DTI, DSWD, DOF, DOH, PMS, Protocol Office, NCCA, MMDA, AFP, PNP, PIA, CHED, NPDC, PAGCOR, PCSO, NUC City Mayor of Manila; San Juan; Caloocan; Kawit, Cavite; Malolos, Bulacan; Imus, Cavite; Government offices of Bulacan, Cavite, Philippine Public Safety College, CCP and the private sector.

The launching activity of this year’s
activities is the National Flag Day set on May 28, 2012 to coincide with the
Battle of Alapan, and to be held in Imus, Cavite, in pursuit of RA 8491. (PIA)
