Law enforcement coordinating committee in Camarines Sur reactivated

NAGA CITY, October 13 (PIA) -- The police provincial office in Camarines Sur has called on the heads of various government agencies for the re-activation of the Provincial Law Enforcement Coordinating Committee (PLECC) to strengthen enforcement endeavors to ensure public safety and deter crimes in the communities.

Police Senior Superintendent Procopio G. Lipana, PNP Camarines Sur director said the reactivation aims to increase the collaboration of various provincial field offices of government institutions in all aspects of law enforcement endeavors particularly in the province.

The establishment of PLECC is pursuant to the rules and regulations of Implementing Order No. 829 which dates back from September 11, 1982. In December 1992, it was amended by Executive Order No. 41 and by Executive Order No. 41-A on February of the succeeding year.

Each member, once given their final committees shall submit to the chairman their outlined strategies for the enforcement of the peace and order campaign, as well as policies and thrusts for the successful implementation of law enforcement functions.

The sub committees will also serve as a venue for dialogue and point of coordination of concerned government entity engagement in the enforcement of general or special laws. They are also directed to coordinate policies or procedures in order to facilitate cooperation and integration of efforts among member-agencies and ensure a unified direction in the suppression of criminal activities.

Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Camarines Sur was tasked to chair the Sub-Committee on Public Information and as member in various committees which include Dangerous Drugs, Crime Against Public Morals and Welfare and Illegal recruitment/Trafficking in Person.

PIA will be closely coordinating with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the Department of Labor and Employment in carrying out its functions.

Other areas of concerns which will be covered by PLECC include firearms and explosive control, alien control, civic involvement, environment and forestry law, fishing and marine environment protection, financial frauds/ tax evasion and currency violations, traffic management enforcement and anti-carnapping, intelligence coordination, and on plant and animal quarantine. Indigents to receive PhilHealth cards under sponsored program

DAET, Camarines Norte, October 13 (PIA) -- A total of 864 indigent residents were identified beneficiaries of family cards from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC) under the sponsored program of the provincial government here with the funding of P18 million.

The 864 family cards were already claimed by the provincial government through Gov. Edgardo Tallado and are ready for distribution in the town of Basud with 24 beneficiaries, Daet – 126; Jose Panganiban- 84, Labo-295, and Vinzons - 335.

The provincial government previously distributed some 46,913 family cards as part of the P18M sponsored program and these include the 3,948 beneficiaries in Basud; 1,882 in Capalonga; Daet – 9,538; Jose Paganiban- 3,985; Labo – 7,451; Mercedes – 5441; Paracale – 4,529; San Lorenzo Ruiz – 1,317; San Vicente – 1,229; Sta.Elena – 2,148 and Vinzons – 2,972.

Tallado said that beneficiaries are those not included in the sponsorship program of the Department of Health because they are not listed in the National Household Targeting System, a survey conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development who identified the qualified beneficiaries nationwide.

The beneficiaries can use their family cards in all health care facilities with PhilHealth accreditation during the time indicated, he said.

He also urged individuals to be aware of the different information provided by the Provincial Health Office through their information, education and communication campaign in the different barangays here especially on campaigns against dengue, measles and other diseases. DOE to conduct energy efficiency, conservation seminar

VIRAC, Catanduanes, October 11 (PIA) -- A whole-day seminar on Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program in Government Offices/Agencies will be conducted by the Department of Energy through its Luzon Field Office (LFO), in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Catanduanes on October 12, 2011, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m at the Provincial Capitol Dome, Virac, Catanduanes.

The said activity aims to increase public awareness and promote the judicious and efficient utilization of energy resources by concerned government entities as institutionalized by the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program (NEECP).

The seminar is also in line with the continued global call for climate change mitigation and current power supply situation in the country.

A registration of the participants in the seminar will be held at 8:00 in the morning to be followed by an Opening Ceremony. Governor Joseph C. Cua of Catanduanes is expected to give his welcome message follwoed by a keynote address of Mr. Efren L. Balaoing, Director, Luzon Field Office, Department of Energy.

A Photo Session and a coffee break will take place at around 10:00 a.m. Engr. Marlon U. Domingo will give a talk on National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program (NEECP) and he is also expected to give some Energy Conservation Tips. The OIC-General Manager of the First Catanduanes Electric Cooperative, Inc. (FICELCO)), Engr. Rodolfo F. Mendoza will also have a talk with regards to understanding of the Electric Bill.

During lunch time, a video showing of "Panahon Na', a documentary on Climate Change will take place. Engr. Reynaldo V. Liganor, Chief, ERDUD and Mr. Kristian Carlo B. Victorio of the ERTLS-Lighting and Appliance will give a talk on Climate Change and Lighting System Efficency Improvements and Energy Conservation Oppurtunities in Refrigeration & A/C System respectively.

There will aslo be an open forum for the participants to have a chance to clear some topics and ask some clarifications from the speakers. (MAL/EAB, PIA Catanduanes)

MalacaƱang declares Oct. 26 a special non-working day in Catanduanes

VIRAC, Catanduanes, October 13 (PIA) -- In commemoration of the founding day of Catanduanes, MalacaƱang has declared October 26, 2011 as a special non-working day in the province.

Pursuant to Proclamation No. 256 issued Sept. 20 by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa on behalf of President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, the Palace stated that it is fitting and proper to declare Oct. 26 as a Special Non-Working Day in Order to give people of Catanduanes the opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion.

The founding day is also in consonance with the Catandungan Festival 2011 which is a whole-month celebration and which will officially open
