THANK YOU FOR A FIRE-FREE AND INJURY-FREE HOLIDAYS – BFP SORSOGON

SORSOGON CITY – Chief Inspector Renato Marcial, Sorsogon City fire marshall gives credit to the men and women of the Sorsogon City Fire Department and above all to the cooperation and full support of the community for the safe and peaceful celebrations of Christmas and the New Year.

“Generally, the city of Sorsogon celebrated the holiday season peacefully and safely as far as fire safety is concerned,” Marcial said.

He said that aside from a small fire that the Bureau of Fire Protection Sorsogon City responded to before the year ended, there were no other major fire incidents.

It can be recalled that prior to the yuletide season, the BFP started its fire safety advocacy through a massive fire safety inspection in all establishments in the area to ensure that owners strictly complied with the requirements of the Fire Code of the Philippines.

Said inspection was also part of the preparation for the one-stop-shop that will open this month, so that the building or business owners will have more time to prepare in case deficiencies or other lacking fire safety requirements be found in their respective establishments.

“Also, in order to ensure the safety of the revelers as they welcome the new year, The BFP Sorsogon City conducted the “Oplan Iwas Paputok” campaign which was done through fire truck visibility wherein BFP personnel conducted public addresses reminding them of firecracker hazards,” said Marcial.

The BFP’s efforts proved effective during the height of and after the celebration particularly that no fire incident transpired during the tour of their duty. (BARecebido, PIA/BFP Sorsogon City)
